about

When Disney announced in 1994 that it was building the Animal Kingdom park, both Michael Eisner and Joe Rohde spoke at the press conference. One of the interesting things that Joe mentioned, according to the official transcript, was that you'd see the Loch Ness Monster.

It was, perhaps, one throw-away line in an hour-long press conference. But it turns out that there really WAS a plan to have 'Nessie in the park, along with a unicorn maze, a dragon-and-bats roller coaster, and a ride based on excavating equipment.

That's not even half of it. We found artwork of two, never-built scenes from Countdown to Extinction (Dinosaur) that would have brilliantly tied together the back story of Dinoland, with every attraction that's there today.

Hear all about it on today's show.
