about

It's February 1984, and the Disney Company is reeling from a hostile takeover attempt. The hiring of Michael Eisner is still more than half a year away. And Disney executives need to come up with ideas to make people come to their parks soon.

The memo we discuss here is a summary of the development ideas that were discussed - and rejected - in that meeting. They range from crazy (a Renaissance Fair?) to brilliant (the "George Lucas' Star Wars Park").

Many of the ideas actually get built by Eisner years later. Jim and Len talk through each of the ideas, including why Disney didn't go forward with them in 1984, using the executives' own words.
